Do I have to be over the age of 18 to participate?

-Yes, unfortunately. Member comfort is our first priority and some subjects or interactions may not be suitable for those under the age of 18. To keep Adult-Minor interactions separate we have elected to make the group accessible to only adults. Our apologies. Proof of Age may be required for certain channels.

Will the group follow the game logic or the anime logic?
-Since the group is semi story-driven we will be taking more aspects from the anime than the video game series. You will be expected to know [or at least research when applicable] Abilities, Moves, and Type advantages from the core video game series. However, since artwork is not a turn-based affair, you have leniency when it comes to conveying your story through art.

Will this group coincide with the Pokemon Anime or Video Game series?

-No! The setting does take place in a canonical city [Goldenrod City, Johto] but the story itself is completely separate from any mainline pokemon show, game, or story. Any official characters will not be making an appearance, but they may be referenced. Member characters are not allowed to have any meaningful relationships to important characters from the Pokemon franchise.

Can our character be affiliated with an existing team/group/organization?
-Not presently. They can be formally affiliated with such organizations. For the sake of group continuity all evil teams have been disbanded.

Will we be able to use new pokemon revealed in future games?
-Yes, eventually. At present, we are only accepting the pokemon revealed as of the Indigo Disk DLC for Pokemon Scarlet/Violet. At this time, the next main-series pokemon game HAS been announced [Pokemon Legends Z-A] slated to release in 2025. No new pokemon have been revealed at this time.

What about spoilers?
-There will be a 2-month cooldown after each new game. During this cooldown no artwork or mentions of new pokemon will be accepted into the group. We want to give people adequate time to enjoy the content before we allow it into the group.
-There will be a separate channels in the discord dedicated to Spoilers. You can mute the Spoilers channel to avoid spoiler.

How do I unlock additional characters and pokemon?
-You can unlock Trainers, Pokemon, and NPC slots by completing events and certain criteria within the group. Adding pokemon to your team will be relatively easy, while trainer slots will be slightly harder.

-Additional Trainers and Pokemon slots may also be purchased in the Pokeathlon shop.

Can my character have pokemon from prior to receiving their invitation?

-Yes, of course! But only one (1) may join them at the start of this group. You will be given the oppertunity to bring in other pokemon or be introduced to new pokemon at a later date.

-Additional pokemon slots may be unlocked via events or in-group purchase.

Can my Character have a Twin, Partner, or Child?

-Yes, however, they may only be referenced in passing. As your character's Twin/Partner/Child are not considered your primary character, you will not be allowed to RP as those characters or claim additional points for drawing them.

-You may be allowed to bring them in officially as an NPC at a later date or by purchasing additional character slots.

Which Main-Series Gimmicks are available?

-Presently, NONE of the game gimmicks will be included. This includes Mega Evolution, Z-Moves, Dyna/Gigantomax, or Terrastalization. HOWEVER, there are current plans to integrate SOME or ALL of these forms in the future. 

For now, the focus on the group will be the "Genetics" gimmick, which allows you to play with a pokemon's looks.

In a world where Designer Pokemon are commonplace, why would we choose a Normal or Shiny pokemon?

-Without getting too deep into the discussion, but un-modified pokemon do hold certain advantages over those who have had their genetics altered. "Pure Bred" "Alpha" and "Totem" Pokemon are traits that can only be acquired by standard or shiny pokemon. Other advantages may be given to un-modified pokemon so keep that in mind.

How do movesets work?

-Your pokemon should have a moveset consisting of up-to four moves. We do not strictly adhere to metagame logic. If your pokemon can learn, has learned, or has ever had access to a particular move then it will be accepted. A quick Google search or Bulbapedia will help you find a viable list of moves for your pokemon.

How do pokemon evolve?

-Because of the many different ways a pokemon CAN evolve, we have tied evolution to items which can be purchased using in-group currency. 

-Pokedollars can be exchanged for  evolutionary items that can be immediately applied to your pokemon should you so desire.

Can we stack genes?

-Not initially. New applicants can have One (1) non-legendary pokemon with any one (1) of the Nine (9) basic genes, called Bronze Genes. 

-New genes will be revealed periodically and will be categorized based on the effect they have on pokemon.

Bronze, Gold, Silver, and Platinum genes.

-Having multiple genes expressed in a single pokemon is planned for a later date.

What are some other features planned for the future?

- Just as there are plans to roll out Gene Stacking in the future, we do plan on rolling out other features as time goes on. This includes Battle Gimmicks such as Mega Evolution, Breeding, and MORE!

-There is no current time frame as to when these may be introduced.

What is the in-group currency?

-Just like in mainline pokemon games the official currency for this group will be Pokedollars. You will be awarded Pokedollars for every official submission you make to the group. More detailed work will yield a higher reward. You may use these Pokedollars to purchase additional character slots, pokemon slots, genes, evolutionary items and more from the official store.

How often are group events? 

-Events are planned to roll out about every-other month, but may vary. There will be cooldown time between events as well. Activity checks will account for about one (1) event out of every three (3)

Where do we role play?
-Our primary source of connectivity is Discord!  There are plenty of role play rooms available to choose from.
-Private role plays between members can be done on any platform of their choosing.

Will writing submissions be accepted?
-Generally speaking, yes. All events, and plot-driven events will typically call for some form of artwork or story to complete the task at hand. Literary work will be graded on a different scale than artwork. There may be limitations put in place in the future if the system is abused. All pieces must be related to the group.
